Monib A. Zirvi, MD, PhD | Dermatologist | Summit Medical Group

A renowned dermatologist of nearly two decades, Monib A. Zirvi, MD, PhD currently practices with the Summit Medical Group in New Jersey, a role he commenced in 2004. Alongside his primary role, he has also served as an adjunct clinical instructor with Weill Cornell Medicine and as an attending dermatologist at Overlook Medical Center part of Atlantic Health Group since 2004. Additionally, Dr. Zirvi has been an investigator for research projects on diagnostics for DNA cancer detection, and he is the co-author of articles published in “Archives in Dermatology,” a prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Zirvi is also an associate at the Academy of Dermatology. Finding great success throughout his career, he was honored as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly in 2014 and 2012, as well as in U.S. World Report in 2012 and New Jersey Monthly Top Doctors in 2009. Dr. Zirvi was the recipient of MDx Medical’s 2011 Patients’ Choice Award for his outstanding patient care, bedside manner, follow-up care, appointment availability, and positive office environment. He was also commended with the Top Doctor for Cancer Care Award in 2016 and America’s Most Honored Professionals (1%) Award in 2017.

At the start of his career journey, Dr. Zirvi earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering, with a concentration in electrical engineering, from Princeton University in 1993. He graduated summa cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Honor Society. In 2000, he obtained a Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy from Cornell University Medical College, now known as Weill Cornell Medicine. During his graduate studies, he helped design the original Zipcode DNA sequences that were used to patent and commercialize the Universal Zipcode DNA Array, helping to revolutionize DNA analysis and sequencing. From there, Dr. Zirvi completed an internship at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he received the Beerman-Johnson Resident Research Award, and a residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania.
